Aim & learning objectives: The aim of this assignment is to to write an essay on AI since 2015.
Requirements: There have been many changes in AI in recent years. Your task is to identify examples of important advances or controversies, describe them brie y and place them in context.
Your essay should have the following structure:
1. Title.
2. Abstract (maximum 200 words).
3. Introduction.
4. Content sections (and possibly subsections).
5. Conclusion/Summary
6. References/Bibliography
All gures and tables should have legends/captions.
Any quotes from sources should be clearly formatted as quotes and fully referenced. Your essay can be broad { in the sense that it covers a wide range of material in limited depth { or narrow { in the sense that you focus on a small number of points in detail. The year 2015 was chosen arbitrarily. You can use and refer to previous work if you feel that it aids comprehension. The topics discussed in your essay should be those with signi cant innovation and/or development and/or controversy since 2015.
Word limit: An enforced word limit of 5,400 words excluding references and appendices applies to this assignment. A word count must be provided at the start of the submission. The penalty for work of incorrect length is 1 mark for work that is 10% overlong, then a further 1 mark per additional 10% over.
Submission: A single submission containing your essay in PDF format must be submitted electronically via MMS by the deadline. Submissions in any other format will be rejected.
Assessment criteria: Marking will follow the guidelines given in the school student handbook (see link in next section).
