1. Possible project idea [40 points]




Give an example of a software product that you, as an entrepreneur and/or product manager would like to develop with a group of 2 or 3 software engineers working under your supervision. Describe this software product and explain why it would be innovative and useful. Indicate its target users and outline its main functions and capabilities (features). Briefly describe the origins of your software product idea (how this idea came to you) and compare your proposed solution with at least 2 (quasi) similar products already available on the market or as open-source software [500-1000 words in total].




2. Software engineering and your professional career plans [25 points]




Indicate 3 software engineering-related types of jobs that you would be interested to pursue in your professional career (e.g., software engineer, developer, analyst, designer, architect, programmer, tester, data architect, UI designer, QA/QC specialist, etc.). Provide a brief summary for each position, educational requirements, salary ranges, and briefly explain what exactly makes you interested in them [100-200 words each].




3. Software quality [35 points]




Consider a software application or tool that you are familiar with (e.g., a web-based application, a mobile application, a computer game, a GUI builder, etc.), describe its purpose(s), and give 3 examples of its main functions or software features that demonstrate good quality. Briefly explain why you think these are examples of good quality, highly functional software. Also, give 3 examples (in total) of this software tool’s features that could be improved or could be added. Briefly suggest ways to improve these particular existing features or why the additional features would be useful.
